The Montana Tech College of Technology (better known as the COT) is located down Harrison Ave., on 25 Basin Creek Rd.
If you are unfamiliar with the COT, it is quite some distance from the main North Montana Tech Campus. Students attend classes at the COT for majors in the fields of Business Technology, Trades and Technology, Network Technology, and various Health programs. The College of Technology does have the downfall of being located far away from the main campus, which sometimes gives prospective students the notion that they will not be included as full-time Montana Tech Orediggers. This however, is not true. COT students have the privilege of using all of the main campus facilities, such as the HPER gym and Library. They can be on sports teams, join clubs, and participate in all Tech events throughout the year. There is no difference between a main campus student and a COT student, therefore COT students are also encouraged to live in the residence halls if they wish to.
Aside from participating in main campus activities, the staff does its best to keep students involved at the COT as well. It has its own learning center where students can get free tutoring and extra help in their classes. It also hosts workshops on things such as test anxiety, memory skills, and time management. There are many positive aspects to the College of Technology. For many students, one of the greatest of these is the opportunity to learn in smaller class sizes, and have close relationships to their professors. This can be a great way to get individualized assistance.
All in all, the College of Technology is a good school with a good learning environment. It would be nice if the one-building campus could move north to the main campus for easier access to students, though all the benefits weigh out this minor hindrance.
