Diggers Fall to Saints

Jason Silvernale
This past Saturday, Alumni Coliseum was packed to celebrate the last home game of the 2010 season, recognize the senior athletes, and watch one of the most heated rivalries in the Frontier Conference. By the end of the game, there weren’t celebrating Montana Tech fans or players. Carroll College took an early and strong command of the game and continued their undefeated season with a 46-10 romp of the Diggers.

Montana Tech did not post a score until the very end of the second quarter when Sean Kelly kicked a 38 yard field goal to make the half time score 29-3. Carroll scored twice in both the first and second quarters.
Oredigger woes continued in the second half, watching Carroll score another two times in third quarter. Early in the fourth, the Saints kicked a 21 yard field goal to end their scoring run for the game. With a little over four minutes left in the game, Tech tallied its only touchdown of the game with a 2 yard Drew Savage run. Kelly’s kick was good to make the final score 46-10.
The Diggers will finish out their season next weekend when they travel to Dillon to play Montana Western. Tech is currently 4-5 in conference play and 4-6 overall.
