Allyse Cruise, Player Of The Week

The Frontier Athletic Conference announced on Sept 5 their selections for players of the week in the fall sports currently underway.  Montana Tech’s own Allyse Cruise was announced as the Player of the Week for volleyball after a 32 dig performance at the UST Labor Day tourney in Houston, TX.  This performance places Cruise at #2 in the all-time ‘Digger record book for digs in a single game.

Allyse Cruise is a 5’8” Libero for the Orediggers, currently in her Junior year of eligibility and working towards a degree in Metallurgical Engineering.  She is a native of Liberty, Saskatchewan. We asked Allyse about how her season is progressing.

What has your favorite moment this season been so far?

“Beating Western!! Their new coach has really improved the team but it was great to get an early in the season win over one of our rivals!!  Another high point was our win over Friends University.  They were receiving votes for the top 25 and were a really great team.  We played some of our most consistent volleyball during that match, which was great to see!”
What are some of your goals for the 2011 Digger Volleyball Season and Team?

“I usually have the same team goals in mind every year, be undefeated against Western and beat Carroll at home! We haven’t managed to pull off a win against Carroll in a really long time, so I am hoping that this is the year.  Because we have such a young team, I set an individual goal of improving the consistency of my defense.  I need to make sure that I perform at a high level all the time, so our young offense can get the chance to shine!”
