Once again, the time of year has arrived to begin Montana Tech’s highly popular intramural basketball season. Everything will work generally the same as previous seasons; however, there are a few changes.
In past seasons, there have been two classes in which teams can enter – a men’s or women’s league. Due to a small number of teams and increasingly overlapping team members, the women’s league has been abandoned and a co-req league has taken its place. Although historically there has been a co-req league, it has been absent for the last several years. There will be some rule changes for female players (i.e. point values and blocked shots) however, these rules have not been set in stone and will likely be tested the first few games.
The other new guideline is one that discourages current collegiate athletes (basketball) from playing in either league. This was instated to try and offer a little more of a level playing field for other participating teams.
