It Must Suck to be Isaac Clarke

Not too long ago I had the thought that it must suck to be Isaac Clarke. I had this thought while playing as Isaac Clarke in Dead Space 2 right after I had just run from an army of necromorphs (horrifying bug-like zombies) in a straight jacket. He survived the first necromorph outbreak only to awaken and see that another one has happened, even though in the last Dead Space he believes he has stopped the terror from ever happening again.

Well I have to give it to the creators of Dead Space 2, they truly have some disturbing minds. How else can you make a game that will have you startled, disgusted, and on the edge the whole time but make you scream awesome at the same time? This game is awesome; the story is great and the game even has online play this time. The online play is like Left 4 Dead: four humans versus four necromorphs, humans have to complete an objective to win, and if they don’t they lose. It’s pretty simple, but very fun; it also has a ranking system to unlock abilities and weapons.

The campaign mode is meant to be played twice, so if you don’t like replays then you will not get the full experience. In Dead Space 2, Isaac Clarke must utilize new weapons, suits, stasis, and of course telekinesis to overcome this new outbreak of necromorph hell. The weapons are beyond creative and are sure to provide plenty of entertainment while clearing enemies out of your way. Combining the weapons with proper use of telekinesis makes you one deadly engineer; shooting a necromorph is fun, but shooting their claw off then pinning them to the wall with it is just so much better.

Overall, Dead Space 2 is a great game and pushes the creativity to a whole new level of fear. I have three recommendations for those who are planning to play the game. First, treat every corpse you see as a live necropmorph, because some are live necromorphs just playing possum. Second, expect a necrophmorh to jump out of anywhere; there literally is no safe place to hide. Third, if you want to make things a bit easier on your first play through, purchase one of the three weapons packs before you start the game. They cost around five bucks and give you three suits and three weapons for free the first time you go to the store. Enjoy the game, but remember, in space, no one can hear you scream.
