After Christmas we all take our brand new games and play the heck out of them and the next month or two it is rare to see any new releases. Well were in the middle of February now so it is time to take a look at just a handful of games that will be coming out early on this year. So far from an early peak at what is to come, I can confidently say it is going to be a great year for shooters.
To kick off the line up is a new game from the creators of Gears of War called Bulletstorm. Pretty much the name speaks for itself, there is a lot of shooting in this game, so much that the point of this to rack up points by killing your opponents in a creative fashion. Yes anyone can blow the head of a mutant with a double barrel shotgun. What the creators want to see is you kick him into the air, blow his head off, and then eradicate the remains of the corpse with a rocket while it is still in the air. The game looks fun and is obviously set up to create competition at who is the best “killer” among your friends. Coming to you February twenty second.
Another military shooter coming to looks to take some attention away from black ops is Homefront. This fps has a story mode about Americans taking back their country after being invaded and occupied by enemy forces. The real fun however lies within the multiplayer (like most military shooters). The matches should hold thirty-two players per match with teams of sixteen versus sixteen. Instead of kill streaks you earn points every time you complete a certain task say kills, captures…etc. then you redeem those points for the use of some higher weapons that should give you an advantage like drones. Homefront hits the shelves march fifteenth.
Another heavily anticipated title coming out this year is Crisis 2. There is not a lot of information out on this game yet but there is a demo available so I encourage everyone tries it out. From the demo game play it has a Call of Duty military feel on steroids, there are quite a few extra abilities that make the game a bit more interesting. For example you have two armor abilities right off the bat like cloaking that obviously makes you almost invisible and powered up nano armor that makes you take less damage. Along with all sorts of different guns grenades and of course crazy ion cannon killstreaks what’s not to love. Crisis 2 is available March 22nd.
The last and definitely not the least anticipated title coming out this year is “Section 8 Prejudice”. This game is the sequel to the original Section which was a lot of fun but it was released at a terrible time. The game was released right in between Modern Warfare 2 and Halo ODST so anyone that may have even been interested in Section 8 was already playing the two games that consumed Xbox Live. This game however is promised to excel in all areas of game play, more weapons, more machines, and more abilities. Prejudice is a game where you are fighting to control certain areas on the map. You spawn on the map by dropping from a ship in orbit much like an ODST trooper in Halo without a pod just armor. So you drop onto a battlefield at the spot of your choosing. So if you get spawn killed it is your fault, Section 8 Prejudice is available for download early this year.
