The Three Bears Alaska parking lot was full of hustle and bustle Saturday morning. No, there wasn’t a huge sale on groceries or three dollar gasoline – just a lot of people raising breast cancer awareness by participating in the SWE’s Save the Tatas 5K Walk/Run/Bike.
The Society of Women Engineers perennially hosts Save the Tatas events as a fundraiser for both their club along with breast cancer awareness efforts. The runners and walkers completed a 5K route while the bikers completed a 10K course. This is the first year SWE have done the 5K Walk/Run/Bike but received enormous support for this inaugural event. Around 100 participants took part in what the organization hopes to be an annual event.
