Stricter Parking For Tech

Ever noticed one of those cars on campus with a never-ending stack of parking tickets splashed across its windshield? Maybe this car has even been yours at some point! Well it looks like the jig is up for habitual offenders because parking enforcement at Montana Tech is about to get a lot stricter. 

The Montana Tech parking policy already states that students with unpaid parking citations will not be allowed to re-enroll for future semesters or obtain transcripts. However, in addition to these penalties, Montana Tech also reserves the right to immobilize or tow vehicles of habitual parking offenders. 

EWB Visits El Salvador

The Montana Tech chapter of Engineers Without Borders took their first journey to El Salvador this past July. This will be a five-year project for EWB in El Salvador. The goal is to stop the downstream erosion due to the torrential rainy season that is ruining the existing road, which is a main road for transportation connecting three separate communities. Our plan is to straighten this road and replace the existing culvert system. This first trip was strictly an assessment and data collection trip in which we were there for a total of eleven days. We met with the local mayor and community members to discuss the problem with the road. Thankfully we had Local Peace Corp volunteers to translate Spanish for us as well as serving as our tour guides and helpers. 

Parking On Campus

Montana Tech is always growing and competition for parking spots on campus is heating up. If you live close by walking to and from class will save money and benefit your body. If you must drive, be careful not to break parking regulations.

New Coach, New Squad

For the last three year Montana Tech’s Cheerleading squad has been under the leadership of Cristie Hess who left the position this summer. Joe McClafferty, Tech’s athletic director, found the girls an experienced new coach.

Tech is an always growing college, enrollment is growing, and majors are adding more focuses. In the last year Tech has even opened the new Natural Resources Building to accommodate our ever changing college. With all these changes Tech has been creating new policies and updating old ones.

Longer Semesters

Has anyone noticed among other university students in Montana that Tech students start the semester earlier and end later than most?  The typical semester at the U of M and MSU lasts 75 days; at Tech, the average semester is 80 days.  The reason for this goes all the way back to 1994 when we joined the Montana University system.
