How I wish we could live in a world where we could leave our doors unlocked and windows open throughout the day without a single worry; sadly, we do not live in a world without crime, and we need to remember that.
Over the past few months, the number of thefts, vandalisms, and break-ins has increased to the point that everyone should take a few extra security measures. All across Butte there have been numerous burglaries and thefts reported. From breaking into cars for money in people’s wallets, to theft of easy to carry items that can be pawned for quick cash.
There have even been reports of break-ins, and even stealing of patio furniture while people are home. There will always be theft and crime in the world, but it just seems to be rising a bit more in the local area lately. This article is not a fear campaign to scare you into being afraid of the outside world; it is an attempt to raise alertness and help people take preemptive security measures. There are simple ways to protect your belongings. Lock your doors at night, and secure your windows, either with locks or loose boards. Motion sensor lights outside may help a little as well. Either way, just try to lock up (whether you’re home or not) and have a safe winter.
