What to do with books?

Alan Barthelmess
As a fellow student, I hate spending lots of money on books that I tend to use for only a semester, then never look at again. Sure, some books I will read every once in awhile, that however tends to be it for the lifespan of my books usage. So we’re left with the option to hang on to our books and maybe use them again or sell them.
If you are looking for some quick cash, you can always sell them to our very own bookstore. You’re most likely to get about one third of what you paid for the book in that situation. Amazon is always asking if you would like to sell your books for to them in exchange for credit on Amazon, which is a pretty good deal; with the credit you could buy other items on Amazon since I have noticed they tend to sell just about everything on that site.

There is also another option that saves a bunch of money for us students. Instead of buying you can rent books online instead. Chegg.com or textbooksrus.com are some good rental sites that tend to cost much less than buying and selling the book back. Chegg is often a little more expensive than other rental sites, but it’s because they plant a tree with every order as part of a go green effort. I myself have planted a few trees now through the use of Chegg.

Recently, I have been using a site called Bigwords.com, this site is like a Google specified for finding you the cheapest textbook possible. It’s a free search engine that you just enter the books ISBN number and it brings up a list of sites that have the book, and tells you the prices to buy or rent the specified book at each site. This is a huge money saver; I highly encourage everyone to shop around before buying their books. Welcome back and have a great semester.
