We are now into the first few weeks of class and starting to get the feel of things. For anyone who didn’t get started off on the right foot it is not too late to change pace. There is an option to drop a class fifteen days after classes start without any recourse, this will not affect your GPA or be on your transcript. The last day to drop without anything on your transcript was September 12th.
Anyone who drops a class now will receive a ‘W’ on your transcripts which means incomplete and that you withdrew from your class. These “W’s” are not removable but they do not affect your GPA and can be somewhat beneficial if it doesn’t look like you are going to pass your class. The last date to drop a class with a “W” is generally fifty days after classes start and lands on October 31st this year. If you choose to stick it out and then decide to drop your class at a date later than this it will be counted as an “F”, don’t think I need to explain what that means.
In order to drop a class a student must acquire and add/drop card which can be obtained in the one stop shop, then must get an advisors approval and signature along with the professors of the class as well. I encourage everyone to try their best in their classes and see them all the way through. If you have a bad semester though or personal matters get in the way there are ways to salvage your GPA and academic transcripts. These dates are marked in the academic calendar with much more other important dates. For more information on dropping or adding classes stop by the one stop shop.
