The 4th Annual CareerSmart fair is just a few weeks away and the Montana Tech Career Services office is very excited at the additional number of companies attending. With more than 40 companies registered, this is over a 21% increase in participation over last year. Scheduled for Wednesday, February 15th, from 8:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. in the Student Union Building, the CareerSmart Fair is actually the “kick off” for the spring recruiting and this increase in recruiter interest is taken as a good indicator of continued economic recovery.

More than Just the Career Fair
In every classroom presentation, I talk about all of the various services offered in Career Services. In addition, I tell students the career fairs at Montana Tech are the most public display of OUR MISSION. We try to get the word out through emails, flyers, press releases, workshops, presentations, emails, television, newspapers, etc. There are now two of them, one each semester; this provides a great opportunity to meet with employers who are physically here to hire students for summer, internships, and full-time positions in a variety of industries.

Gloomy on the Outside..Bustling on the Inside

Last Thursday Montana Tech’s campus was rainy, humid, and cold. And although the temperature may not have been low compared to our winters, the humidity made it into a chill-you-to-the-bone cold. Don’t let the weather fool you though; inside the HPER you wouldn’t have known how gloomy it was outside. Why? Because last Thursday was the 11th annual career fair at Tech.
