The next game in the Battlefield series has finally arrived. Titles such as Battlefield have set high standards for their customers and year after year they still find ways to surpass our expectations. Battlefield 3 has done this yet again and left their community with a smile, and a huge replay value for a military first person shooter game. Problems were experienced on the launch with servers randomly crashing, upsetting a lot of people. Since the first week of the game launch however most problems have been fixed and online play is a blast.

5 Budget Video Games
5. Trenched
Trenched is a co-op wave based game where you and your teammates fight off hordes of televised monsters in giant robots. The game is very simple and can be addicting if you are playing with a buddy, doesn’t take long to beat the game though and many players are eagerly awaiting downloaded content. It is definitely nothing compared to Chromehounds or Armored Core but there is a lot of fun to be had.

The Helgast are back
Yep the ISA’s friends from the past just never seem to go away in this PS3 exclusive title Killzone 3. Killzone 3 is a very popular game for Sony gaming devices, but it excels when its played on the PS3 with a 3D TV.
Time to fight back
Over spring break a new game came out on multiple platforms, a tactical first person shooter with a new set of drones and weapons used to obliterate your enemies. There are more drones and vehicles in the game instead of weapons so most of fighting will be done with vehicles and drones you unlock.
In the story or campaign if you prefer, a series of events that starts with North Korea and South Korea unifying. Then leads to Korea taking multiple military actions over a few years with an ending result of overthrowing America. The timeline the player will be playing in is known as the occupation wars. Instead of playing as a member of the fine military this time you’ll be playing simply as an oppressed citizen. There are some scenes that surround you that will definitely stir some emotions that will surely upset you.

Cheap PS3 titles
Just recently I found a great deal on a Sony PS3, so I hit amazon.com to find some cheap games. I was able to acquire four great games for less than a hundred bucks, some really neat titles that each jump around the typical gaming genres.
New to Xbox Live Arcade
For all the Xbox arcade lovers out there, I’ve got some good news for you. Much like the Summer of Arcade titles released over the duration of a month, Xbox Live is releasing another five arcade titles. It looks like there will be a new title each week starting last week. Most of these titles will cost 1200 Microsoft points which comes out to about fifteen bucks. If the games are anything like the Summer of Arcade titles, they are worth a lot more than what we’ll pay.

The Dry Spell is OVER!
After Christmas we all take our brand new games and play the heck out of them and the next month or two it is rare to see any new releases. Well were in the middle of February now so it is time to take a look at just a handful of games that will be coming out early on this year. So far from an early peak at what is to come, I can confidently say it is going to be a great year for shooters.

Angry Birds (Video Game Review)
Alan Barthelmess
Most of you are probably reading this article because you recognize the title “Angry Birds” and have thought “I love that game”. For those of you that haven’t heard of angry birds, where have you been for the past year? “Angry Birds” is only the most popular game for mobile devices since touch screen technology become popular. With over twelve million downloads on smart phones, “Angry Birds” has become a slingshot sensation.

Great gifts for gamers
Alan Barthelmess
If you missed the black Friday this season and were hoping to save some cash on gifts for games then never fear. If you missed Cyber Monday then you may possibly have a problem, nah just kidding. There are all kinds of deals going on at many retailers like GameStop, Play n Trade, Hastings, even Wal-Mart. I find the best deals are either online at Amazon unless one of the previous retailers is doing a massive sale such as buy 2 get 1 free or half off.

Microsoft Kinect
Alan Barthelmess
Well, the Xbox 360’s answer to the Wii has finally arrived, but does it match up to the hype and is it an upgrade or downgrade from the Wii? I will tell you my personal opinion that should be more than helpful. After messing around and playing a few games on my new Kinect attachment, it was immediately decided that the Wii had become obsolete. The triple motion sensor camera with voice activation was even more impressive then I had originally expected. My expectations were that the Kinect system would blow the Wii out of the water; it did that and then some.

Regulating Video Games

Sometimes I question if the planes hitting the Twin Towers was truly the worst outcome of September 11, 2001. The domino effect that terrible event set into motion has yet to come to a halt and the rippling effects may last centuries; but how much of the damage done to the American way of life since that day has been self-inflicted? Take the Patriot Act as an example. After 9/11 Americans willingly gave up freedoms and the right to their own privacy in an attempt to expose terrorists. After making it permissible to monitor such mundane things as library books, the government has taken the initiative to continue to take the safety and well-being of Americans into its own hands.
Ben Franklin said, “Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”

Black ops finally here!!
Alan Barthelmess
After the long months of waiting and viewing the endless teaser trailers Black Ops has finally arrived. From the creators of Call of Duty World of War has come a brand new Call of Duty game that is sure to surprise and please. After picking up my copy at the midnight release I found myself unable to put the controller down for the next 5 hours. There is so much that they have built and improved upon, without losing the basics that originally drew so many gamers in.

Strategy Games
Alan Barthelmess
Generally, if you love strategy games then you probably play on the PC. The only issue I have with PC gaming is always having to upgrade to meet the system requirements for the game. Unless you put out a serious amount of cash into a decent Alienware laptop, you’ll find yourself putting more and more money into your PC to keep up gaming requirements. Anyway, RTS (Real Time Strategy) games are more aimed at PCs than at other consoles, and tend to play much better on PCs.

Games for iPod touch and iPad
Alan Barthelmess
For all of those out there who own and iPod or iPad you probably know what it is like trying to choose which apps out of the thousands to download. Of course apple has provided a few things to help at the app store, such as a list of the top paid apps, a list of top grossing apps among a few other helpful things. You can get a pretty good guess about the app by reading comments left from people, and a look at some of the images but nothings for sure. So I have a few games/apps that I highly recommend for downloads.

Cheap games for us students
Alan Barthelmess
Those of us in college know that money is always tight and luxuries aren’t cheap. For all the gamers out there do not despair. I have a few games out there that are quite affordable and well worth more than what you will pay for them.

Review: Medal of Honor
Alan Barthelmess
After remaining silent for about three years, the Medal of Honor name has stepped back into the spotlight, and this time with a more current game setting instead of WWII. Sadly, this may be the worst Medal of Honor game yet. This game is being referred to as a “Call of Duty Modern Warfare Wannabe.”

Remember Reach
Alan Barthelmess
For those of you who happen to own an Xbox 360, you were probably out last Monday night on the 13th counting down the minutes until midnight. It was on that very night that the latest addition to the Halo games was released. Halo Reach is the title and so far it looks to be the best Halo game yet.

New Games On The Horizon

No matter which console you own it is a great time to be a gamer. Whether you own an Xbox 360, PS3, or a Nintendo WII the upcoming release of games will be surely satisfying.
